Calligraphy Stylist / Café Owner
Kanako
Born in Tokyo, I vividly remember the moment I first encountered Japanese calligraphy at the age of eight during a school class—the scent of ink and the graceful motion of the brush captivated my heart.
After graduating from university, I worked as a fashion model, further refining my aesthetic sensibilities and artistic perspective.
“Calligraphy is a mirror of the heart.”
Guided by this belief and a desire to create a space where anyone can freely express themselves through the brush, I opened Shodocafe7557 in Tokyo’s Minato City in August 2023.
In this calm and welcoming café setting, I offer an immersive experience where people can engage with the richness of Japanese culture through all five senses—and share its beauty with the world.
Today, I continue to nurture this space with the heartfelt wish that people from around the globe will discover the spiritual depth and elegance of Japanese culture through the art of calligraphy.
Just like fashion, calligraphy is a powerful form of self-expression.
Through “sho” as a style, I hope to connect people and cultures—one brushstroke at a time.
